The New York Mets 23 year-old ace, Noah Syndergaard has found himself off to a great start in his first full season as a major league pitcher. Syndergaard has captivated baseball fans around the world this season with his superb pitching.

The right-hander has also taken his health into his own hands over the past year, turning to juices to keep himself in check. Syndergaard spoke with Ken Davidoff of the New York Post on his journey to having a clean lifestyle.

“It’s almost like a staple for me right now,” Syndergaard said. “If I don’t get my juices, I don’t necessarily feel the same.”

It’s hard to argue with whatever may be working for Thor as he has pitched to a 6-2 record this year to go along with a 2.00 ERA. He has put down 95 batters by way of the strikeout in 76.2 innings pitched while performing to a 1.00 WHIP. It is believed by some that Syndergaard will not be able to sustain throwing as hard as he does as he reaches 100+ MPH regularly in his starts.

“I feel like a lot of people have their opinions about that, but I don’t let it affect me,” Syndergaard said. “I just go out there, and I feel like I take really good care of my body, and I feel like it shows. I plan on staying healthy for a very long time.”

With Syndergaard being the only Mets starter of their fab-five who has yet to have to deal with Tommy John surgery, he hired a nutritionist in 2014 to get him on track to keeping his body healthy by overhauling his diet. This diet is said to be rich in Omega-3 as to stave off any inflammation that is normally caused by Omega-6 fatty acids. Syndergaard has turned to the right type of juicing in order to keep himself on point and free of any health related issues.

“I try not to fill my mind with too much negative energy. I always try to think positive about things,” Syndergaard said. “I’m a big believer in, things are going to happen when they’re going to happen. But I’m going to put myself in the best possible position to go out there and prevent any such injury.”

Syndergaard’s new obsession could in fact have the impact he hopes for in keeping himself free of any injury as he has made it a priority to take care of his body. Knowing his limits along the way in what will be his first season of possibly pitching 200+ innings will help as well. His previous season-high which came in 2015, resulted in 179.2 innings pitched combined between New York and the Las Vegas 51’s. Syndergaard’s health is a big key to the Mets as he could very well be the breakout star of this young and talented pitching staff.
