Harvey joker

That’s the back cover of the Daily News featuring Matt Harvey as Batman and Alex Rodriguez as the Joker. Pretty awesome…

Despite a mild ankle sprain, Harvey is full steam ahead for his start this afternoon against CC Sabathia and the New York Yankees in the Bronx.

In his only other start against the Yankees, Harvey was in beast mode, allowing just one run in eight innings while striking out 10 on May 28, 2013 at Citi Field.

Harvey is very focused for this one, so much so that Bob Klapisch reported that he declined to speak to the media before the game on Friday night and made sure he was gone long before reporters were allowed into the clubhouse afterward.

Harvey has been pitching with a mild ankle sprain which he originally suffered in spring training. He had the ankle re-evaluated by a doctor on Wednesday who gave the Mets righty the all-clear. Harvey worked out on Thursday with the ankle taped up.

“A little tape is not going to keep him from pitching the way he can pitch,” Mets manager Terry Collins said.

Harvey is 3-0 with a 3.50 ERA over 18 innings this season, his first since losing 18 months to Tommy John surgery. He has shown great command thus far, issuing just one walk while striking out 24 this season after walking one and striking out 22 in his six spring training starts. Should be a great game!
