The Mets finished the weekend with a 5.5 game lead at the top of the division, even with the Braves taking four-game sweep over the Marlins. With the two teams set to begin a four-game series Monday, the Mets have to feel good about themselves heading into this week.

Let’s take a look at how the National League East division stands on August 15.

New York Mets: (75-40)

Last 10: 8-2

Who’s Hot: Jeff McNeil, IF/OF

McNeil may have had his 13-game hitting streak snapped on Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies, but the 30-year-old has been on a tear at the plate as of late. He is slashing .375/.450/.688 with one home run and four runs batted in over the last six games.

Who’s Not: Brandon Nimmo, OF

The Mets center fielder has not looked like himself with the bat during the last week or so. Nimmo is 4-for-26 over his last seven games, only drawing two walks during that period. He now owns at .350 OBP for the season, way down from his .383 OBP for the entirety of his career.

Injury News

Tylor Megill threw a bullpen session on Sunday for the first time since suffering a shoulder strain against the Milwaukee Brewers on June 16. The Mets intend on using him as a reliever when he eventually get activated later this season.

Atlanta Braves: (70-46)

Last 10: 7-3

Who’s Hot: Michael Harris II, OF

The 2019 third-round draft pick has exceeded expectations and then some in his first major league season. Harris is slashing .320/.382/.580 with three home runs and 14 runs batted in over his past 15 games, on top of the excellent defense he has played in center field since his call-up.

Who’s Not: Marcell Ozuna, OF/DH

Ozuna is in the midst of a long slump that has resulted in him moving towards the bottom of the Braves order. The 31-year-old power hitting is slashing .181/.220./.328 with four home runs over the last 30 games, including 35 strikeouts during that stretch.

Injury News

Mike Soroka is set to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday with the Rome Braves in High-A. The 25-year-old starter last pitched in the majors on August 3, 2020.

Philadelphia Phillies: (63-51)

Last 10: 7-3

Who’s Hot: Bryson Stott, 2B/SS

The 24-year-old middle infielder is swinging a hot bat since getting a more defined role in the Phillies lineup. Stott is 12-for-28 with five runs batted in and an 1.038 OPS over the last seven games.

Who’s Not: J.T. Realmuto, C

Realmuto has been hot and cold throughout the 2022 season, but this recent stretch has him in a bit of a slump. The 31-year-old catcher is slashing .192/.222/.538 with two home runs and six runs batted in over the last seven games, including eight strike outs.

Injury News

Phillies superstar Bryce Harper was set to take part in on-field activities Monday, a huge step in his return from the injured list. The 29-year-old last played on June 25 against the San Diego Padres.

Miami Marlins: (50-65)

 Last 10: 2-8

Who’s Hot: Charles Leblanc, IF

Leblanc is one of the Marlins who has benefitted from getting an opportunity to play this late in the year. The 26-year-old infielder is slashing .378/.404/.533 with one home run and two runs batted in over the last 15 games.

Who’s Not: Jesús Aguilar, 1B

Aguilar is just one of many hitters for the Marlins have a difficult stretch at the plate. The first baseman is just 4-for-19 with six strikeouts over his last seven games, dropping his OPS to .688 for the season.

Injury News

Starting pitcher Trevor Rogers made his second rehab start Sunday since going on the injured list with a back injury. The left-handed pitcher last appeared for the Marlins major league team on July 25 against the Cincinnati Reds.

Washington Nationals: (38-78)

Last 10: 2-8

Who’s Hot: Joey Meneses, 1B

The 30-year-old rookie is having an excellent start to his time with the major league ball club. Meneses is 14-for-35 with five home runs and seven runs batted in, owning a 1.276 OPS through his first ten games in D.C.

Who’s Not: Luke Voit, 1B/DH

Voit has really struggled at the plate since joining the Nationals in the deal that included Juan Soto going to the San Diego Padres. The 31-year-old is slashing .130/.200/.261 with one home run and 12 strikeouts over the last six games.

Infielder Luis García is set to go on the injured list with a groin injury, resulting in Nationals top prospect C. J. Abrams nearing a call-up for his new team.
