According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Atlanta Braves and young outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. have reached an agreement on an eight-year, $100 million contract extension, with a pair of club options included.

The deal will begin this season, and guarantees Acuña another seven years which includes a $10 million buyout on two options for the 2027 and 2028 seasons worth worth $17 million. In total, the Braves will be paying him a maximum of $124 million.

This deal gives Acuña the largest extension ever signed by a player with as little time in the majors as he has. This contract is also the second largest contract in Braves history behind Freddie Freeman‘s eight-year, $135 million contract which he signed back in 2014.

Acuna, 21, is the All-Star left fielder for the Atlanta Braves. He was signed for $100,000 as an international free-agent in July of 2014. And last season in his rookie year in Atlanta, he hit .293/.366/.552, which helped him take home the National League Rookie of the Year award.
