As per a tweet by Newsday‘s Tim Healey, Brandon Nimmo appears satisfied with the Mets’ change in ownership.
In his pregame meeting with the media on Sunday, the Mets outfielder kept his comments concise yet laced with meaning.
When asked about the change that will see Steve Cohen’s entrance and the Wilpons’ exit, Nimmo stated “I’m glad that someone who’s been a lifelong Mets fan ended up getting the team.”
Whether his comments were meant to be taken as shade to the team’s current (though not for much longer) owners – owners who have, on several occasions, made decisions that reflect a certain level of detachment from their own team – one can only speculate.
Nevertheless, it’s clear that Nimmo joins fans in their excitement as these aforementioned ownership changes creep closer.
