Mets took game two of the series against the Braves winning 3-1 and reach .500 on the season.
Game Notes
Jonathon Niese pitched another great 5 1/3 innings of baseball. He fell into some deep bases loaded trouble in the first inning but was able to fight his way out of it. Niese allowed five hits, walked a season high five batters while striking out six, and only allowed one run for another great outing for him. But with the offense silence for him he walked away with another no decision. He remains 0-1 but lowered his ERA to 3.68.
Manny Acosta came in to relieve Niese and dominated against his former team. He pitched a beautiful 1.2 innings not allowing a single hit or run against him. He did walk a batter but also stuck out three and was awarded his first win of the season. Fernando Nieve came in to get one out in the eight inning, only giving up on hit. Feliciano made his first back-to-back relief appearances this year. He was able to get the last two outs in the inning thanks to Reyes’ beautiful diving catch robbing McCann of a hit. Frankie Rodriguez came into the ninth and got his third save of the season.
The Mets bats were once again quite for the beginning of the game but came to life after Jose Reyes drew his second walk of the game and then stole second, but with the high throw from the catcher, was able to make it to third. Jason Bay followed that up with an RBI double deep into center field to tie up the ball game. Mets followed that in the seventh inning with Ike Davis gets walked and Francoeur hit a 415 foot RBI triple into right-center field to score Davis. Henry Blanco then hit a sac-fly to score Frenchy.
Blanco also stole his first base in over nine years. The Mets later presented him with the actual second base he stole. The Mets are always having fun out there.
Jason Bay had a great game going 3-4 with a double and a run-batted in. Hopefully that ends his slump. Speaking of slump, sorry guys, David Wright went 0-4 with a strike out. Ike Davis also went 0-2 with a strikeout but was able to get a walk and a run scored.
Mets first three hitters, Pagan-Cora-Reyes combined for 0-9 with three walks and a strikeout for Reyes. I’m starting to like the new lineup but Cora should not be hitting second. Ever!

Manny Acosta and Jason Bay have to take half each. Manny pitched great against his old team and Bay finally had a great game.
On Deck
Mets will look to get their first series sweep of the season against the Braves and have Mike Pelfrey going up against the young right-handed pitcher Tommy Hanson. Game time is 8:05 p.m. on ESPN.
