Gio Gonzalez is coming off a rough outing against the Phillies in which he allowed five runs (one earned) on five hits over 5 2/3 innings. He didn’t have much help from his defense, though, as Washington committed three errors.

Meanwhile, Carlos Torres has given the Mets a couple of solid starts after taking over for the injured Harvey. In his last outing against the Braves, the right-hander allowed three runs on seven hits over seven innings. But he was shutting Atlanta out until the seventh, when he allowed all three runs.

Brown batting third? He has one hit in his last 14 at-bats with six strikeouts, his only hit a home run.

Justin Turner continues to play regularly and is 7-for-his-last-17 (.412) while scoring at least one run in four straight games (five total) and has driven in four runs in his last three games, including his first home run of the year on Friday night and a solo home run yesterday.

Travis d’Arnaud went 0-for-4 in his last start against Cleveland and is now batting .143 this season in 64 plate appearances. he continues to bat in the number eight spot in his last five starts.

Flores is back in the lineup and it’s not quite clear if he is still being asked to play with his ankle still bothering him. He too has slumped badly since injuring the ankle batting .323 before and .130 since.

Aaron Harang had his contract selected today from Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League and will wear uniform No. 44. He pitched 6.0 innings, allowed six hits, three runs, earned, issued two walks and struck out six vs. Salt Lake in Game Four of the PCL semi-finals on September 7. Harang, 35, was 5-11 with a 5.76 ERA in 22 starts this year for the Seattle Mariners.
