kenley-jansen-2

A day after landing outfielder Adam Eaton, the Washington Nationals have shifted their focus back to the bullpen and are making a push for Kenley Jansen according to Ken Rosenthal on Twitter.

Previously, it was expected that the sweepstakes for the dominant closer would come down to a bidding war between the Miami Marlins and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Jansen, 29, was one of the best relievers in baseball during the 2016 season when he had a 1.83 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and saved 47 games for the Dodgers.

The Nationals lost their closer in free agency to the San Francisco Giants and lost out on the trade bidding for now Cubs closer Wade Davis.
