According to multiple reports – including a note I dropped last week – the Mets are now looking at the possibility of hiring only a general manager this offseason. Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that Sandy Alderson could simply run baseball operations for the 2021 season.

Andy Martino of SNY mentioned that possibility on Monday morning and reported that former Mets pitcher Chris Young is a continued person of interest to the Mets.

MMO’s own Rich Mancuso mentioned in his report last week that Rays’ executive Bobby Heck remains a possibility to become the Mets GM, and my sources say the same.

Team president Sandy Alderson is talking to the media today at 4:30 p.m. ET, and is expected to give an update on the front office search. The search seems to continually evolve as the Mets have hit numerous roadblocks to even interviewing highly thought of executives.
