Luis Rojas will be the manager of the Mets for the 2021 season. Sandy Alderson announced such news at his Monday afternoon press conference, where he also revealed that he would be more involved this year in baseball operations than previously planned.

Alderson said he is “very happy” about the decision to keep Rojas on as manager, and Rojas shared in the excitement. The Mets president also said Rojas’ relationships with his players is one of his best attributes as a manager. He also noted that Rojas “will be better” with in-game managerial decisions in 2021 and be given “all the resources he needs” to accomplish that.

Alderson noted that he did broach the topic of Rojas as manager for the Mets with the half dozen GM candidates, and they all agreed with the Sandy’s assessment that he deserved another chance in 2021.

In his first year as Mets manager, Luis Rojas went 26-34. He took over as manager after Carlos Beltran was let go following his involvement in the 2017 Astros cheating scandal. The 39-year-old has been with the Mets organization since 2007.
