The Yankees signed Carlos Rodon, the best remaining pitcher on the free agent market. Jon Heyman of MLB Network was first with the news. The deal is reportedly for six years and $162 million.

The Mets handed out gifts for kids at the Mets’ holiday party. Todd Zeile dressed up as Santa, the recently re-signed Brandon Nimmo was an elf, and Buck Showalter and Daniel Vogelbach were there as well. And of course, Mr. Met.

The Mets signed catcher Omar Narvaez to a one-year deal with a player option for the second year. Michael Mayer has more in a report for MMO.

Gilbert Gómez will be the St. Lucie Mets’ new manager in 2023 after serving as bench coach last season, according to Mayer. Gómez is a former Mets minor leaguer and the brother of MLB insider Hector Gómez.

The Mets also brought back infielder José Peraza on a minor league contract, Jacob Resnick of SNY reported. He appeared in 64 games for New York in 2021.
