Good morning Mets fans!

During starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s recent trip to the East Coast, the free agent pitcher exclusively met with the New York Mets and New York Yankees, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe.

Yamamoto, the 25-year-old Japanese ace, is the most sought-after free agent remaining on the market and could sign a deal that exceeds $300 million.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network said on Tuesday that the Yankees are still viewed as the front-runner for Yamamoto’s services.

Prior to meeting with the Subway Series rivals, Yamamoto met with the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers during a trip to the West Coast. As part of the Philadelphia Phillies recruiting efforts, two-time NL MVP Bryce Harper facetimed the ace.

Yamamoto’s decision is expected to be made in the near future. Metsmerized is providing the latest Yamamoto updates here.
