The New York Mets (83-75) topped the Miami Marlins (55-103) by a score of 10-3 at Citi Field on Wednesday night. However, the Mets’ playoff hopes and dreams officially came to a bitter end after the Milwaukee Brewers (88-70) secured the second NL Wild Card spot with a win over the Cincinnati Reds (73-85), thus eliminating New York from postseason contention.

Zack Wheeler (11-7, 3.99 ERA) toes the mound tonight in his final start of the 2019 season, and perhaps as a New York Met. Wheeler will go head-to-head with Miami’s Jordan Yamamoto (4-5, 4.83 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT, while broadcasts can be found on SNY, WCBS 880 and ESPN 1050.
Jeff McNeil, hit by a pitch during an at-bat on Wednesday night, will miss the last 4 games of the season after X-rays revealed a right distal ulnar fracture.

This Day in Mets History
1975: On September 26 (and 27th!), 1975, the Mets labored through two 12-inning games in Philly. Extra innings plus rain delays resulted in a 3:14 AM finish, with both teams taking one game apiece. In game one, Philadelphia’s Garry Maddox hit a walkoff single after going 0-5 to start the day. In game two, the Mets’ Jerry Koosman went the distance, allowing just one run on four hits in 11 innings.
