Matt Harvey has struggled the past couple of years in terms of performance and health, but he is striving to rebound in 2018.

“I strive to be better than I was before,” Harvey told the media on Thursday. “And there’s no reason why I can’t. I’m still 28-29 years old and there’s a lot left in the tank. I’m ready to go. I’m excited.”

The Stoneman Douglas High School shooting hit close to home for South Florida natives Anthony Swarzak and Luis Guillorme. On Thursday, both players shared their thoughts regarding the deadly event. Swarzak had family that graduated from the school and Guillorme has played on the school’s field numerous times in the past.

Adonis Uceta suffered a left hamstring strain and was sent to minor league camp according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

DiComo also reported that Matt Purke has caught the flu and was sent home from camp until he recovers.
