Good morning, folks! The Mets are trying to take 3-of-4 from the Nationals today. Corey Oswalt will face Jeremy Hellickson at 1:10 p.m. Just like how the teams drew it up in the offseason. Also of note, the Futures Game is today. Andres Gimenez will play for the World Team and Peter Alonso will play for Team USA.
Zack Wheeler pitched pretty well and Michael Conforto led the offensive charge. The Mets moved to 6-3 against the presumptive NL East favorites. Against the Nationals and another playoff favorite, the Diamondbacks, the Mets are combined 11-5. Everyone else? 28-49.

Mike Puma of the NY Post says the Mets are on the fence on moving Wheeler.
Ken Davidoff of the NY Post says scouts from the Cubs, Mariners, and Yankees (among others) were in attendance to watch Noah Syndergaard. The Cubs and Mariners don’t have a great farm to make a legitimate offer for Syndergaard in my opinion.
Joel Sherman of the NY Post gives reasons to temper expectations on the deadline. Sherman cites Fred Wilpon’s age as a reason the Mets want to compete and not move Syndergaard or deGrom. Sherman also mentions the Mets are likely to hire a GM outside the organization and says that he/she will have the call. Sherman also heard Wheeler’s name compared to Jake Odorizzi. If that’s the case, keep Wheeler. Also, if the Mets want to compete, then get Bryce Harper or Manny Machado.
Mickey Callaway dismissed the possibility of Yoenis Cespedes playing first base this season.
