Major League Baseball announced the results of its COVID-19 antibodies test.

The study discovered that the antibodies were found in 0.7% of the 5,754 people that participated in MLB’s study. The swabs were taken in mid-April and aimed to show how the COVID-19 virus has spread across the continental US. Although there is a large sample size, it must be noted the gender and socioeconomic status of those studied doesn’t represent the US population.

Employees of the Mets, Yankees, and Athletics showed the highest infection rates.

Yesterday, reports arose of the tensions heightening between the players and the owners.

  • Craig Calcaterra of NBC Sports published an piece which says that the owners want to reduce players’ salaries even more, should a season happens. This action by the owners would break the deal that the MLBPA and the owners agreed to earlier this year.
  • Bob Klapisch of the Newark Star-Ledger expanded Calcaterra’s article, tweeting out that if owners insist on paycuts, ” I [An unnamed MLB executive] could easily see the whole thing falling apart and no baseball until next year.”
  • Jim Bowden of The Athletic heard that the MLB is expected to ask the player’s union for the implementation of the DH for the 2020 campaign.
