Morning Briefing: Take Three For Vargas

Good morning Mets fans! Today, Jason Vargas(0-2, 16.20 ERA) will face the Reds’s ace Luis Castillo (1-4, 7.01 ERA). Vargas will look to get on track after an awful start to his season. The game will be on SNY and 710WOR at 7:10 P.M.

Early in the game, Homer Bailey showed why his first name is “Homer” as Michael Conforto, Jay Bruce and Adrian Gonzalez (twice) all went deep. Even though P.J. Conlon only went 3.2 innings, he showed promise in his Major League debut, retiring the first eight Reds. The Mets took a 7-3 lead, but Paul Sewald was tagged for two runs in the sixth inning. The Reds rallied late, but Jeurys Familia shut them down to secure a 7-6 Mets victory. Check out the highlights below!
