Today, the Mets will travel to Roger Dean Stadium as Noah Syndergaard will make his second spring start. One can only hope that it’ll go as well as his first. The Miami Marlins will counter with 2017 breakout star Jose UrenaThe game will be on 710 WOR, but will not be televised.

Mets fans were treated to two spring training games yesterday! At First Data Field, Rafael Montero faced off against Max Scherzer. Vying for a rotation spot, Montero gave up an early first inning run and left after two innings.

Hansel Robles relieved him and although he gave up two doubles in two innings, the Nationals were held scoreless. Jacob Rhame and Matt Purke both followed with two more scoreless innings.

The Nationals would tack on an insurance run on Victor Robles‘s home run off of Marcos Molina in the seventh inning. Later that inning, Molina was saved on a home-run robbing catch by Matt den Dekker. Drew Smith replaced Molina and took care of the Nats with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Max Scherzer was his usual dominant self, holding the Mets hitless through three innings. The rest of the Nationals bullpen followed suit, allowing only one run and two other hits.

I can not believe I’m writing this, but Tebow was the best offensive player in the Mets starting lineup yesterday. After striking out against Scherzer in his first at-bat, he collected his first hit of the spring with a single to center in the fourth. He also reached base via an E-3 in the seventh inning. Gavin Cecchini homered to cut the deficit in half, but J.J. Franco fouled out to Alejandro De Aza to prevent a Mets ninth-inning rally.

Later that day, Robert Gsellman, Brandon Nimmo and Yoenis Cespedes battled the Astros’ marquee offseason addition Gerrit Cole at the Ballpark of Palm Beaches.

An Absurbal Cabrera force-out gave the Mets the lead in the first inning, but Astros scored three runs off Gsellman in the third to end his night. The Mets then got a run back on a Luis Guillorme sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. The following inning, George Springer blasted a Corey Oswalt pitch deep down the left field line and suddenly the Mets were facing a three-run deficit.

Highlighted by a Guillorme RBI double and a Brandon Nimmo triple, the Mets stormed back in the top of the sixth inning to take a 7-5 lead.

Flamethrowers Tyler Bashlor and Gerson Bautista followed it up with two scoreless innings. However, in the ninth, Kevin McGowan allowed a home run to his first batter, Jack Mayfield. Mickey Callaway and A.J. Hinch elected not to play extra innings, so the Mets ended up in a 7-7 tie with last year’s World Series Champions.
