Good Morning Mets Fans. Noah Syndergaard and the Metropolitans (2-3) will look to salvage the final game of the three-game set against the Miami Marlins (3-2) today. Thor will be opposed by Edinson Volquez as he looks to pick up his first win of the season after an impressive opening day performance that was cut short due to a blister on his right middle finger.

Today’s game will be on ESPN with first pitch scheduled for 8:00 PM ET and can also be heard on 710 WOR.

Yesterday, Robert Gsellman had an up and down day, tossing five innings while allowing three runs on six hits. He struck out seven in the game while walking two in his first start of the season, taking the loss. Gsellman struggled at times but was able to still guide the team through five innings, keeping the game within reach as he departed. Read more from John Harper in the NYDN.

The Mets offense continued their early season struggles in Saturday night’s 8-1 loss to Miami. The team as a whole struck out 13 times in the game. Paul Sewald made his Major League debut in Saturday’s game and things did not go as planned for the rookie. He retired just one batter while allowing two runs on three hits in his first taste of the majors. Surely though we will see better things from the promising reliever who had a great spring.
