The New York Mets fell to 2-3 on the season after they lost to the Miami Marlins by the score of 8-1 on Saturday night at Citi Field.

Pitching

Robert Gsellman made first start of the 2017 season. He lasted five innings and gave up three runs on six hits and stuck out seven.

Lefty Josh Smoker threw a scoreless inning in relief a day after allowing five baserunners in 0.1 of an inning.

Hansel Robles was not so hot again as he walked two, allowed a hit and one run while seeing his season ERA go to 7.71.

Paul Sewald made his big league debut after being called up from Triple-A Las Vegas. He struggled as he gave up two runs on three hits and only recorded an out.

Rafael Montero also allowed two runs on three hits and a walk. His ERA on the season is now sitting at 7.71.

Jerry Blevins and Fernando Salas both got two outs and stranded inherited runners.

Hitting

The Mets didn’t get much going offensively yet again with only three hits as a team and 13 strikeouts.

Asdrubal Cabrera and Jay Bruce both singled and went 1 for 4 on the night.

Lucas Duda hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot in the fifth inning for the Mets lone run.

Yoenis Cespedes was robbed of extra bases on a beautiful catch by Christian Yelich, he went 0 for 3 with a walk.

Neil Walker went 0 for 4 with four strikeouts, he’s now hitting .150 to start the season.
