Starling Marte is in Philadelphia to do physical therapy on his groin. The Mets did not offer much information beyond that on his progress. Marte has been on the injured list since early August due to a groin strain after undergoing double groin surgery in the offseason.

Tylor Megill struck out eight batters in six innings of one-run ball, averaging 95.8 miles per hour, but was left with a no-decision after the Rangers rallied for three runs in the eighth and ninth innings to hand the Mets a 4-3 loss. Brandon Nimmo snapped his 0-for-21 skid with a two-run homer, and DJ Stewart added his seventh homer of the year.

Back in New York for the first time since getting traded, Max Scherzer refuted the claim that the Mets clubhouse is toxic. Scherzer said the Mets have a great clubhouse, and said he and Justin Verlander are on better terms than when the season started.

Former big league manager, coach, and player Pat Corrales passed away Monday at the age of 82. Corrales was most recently the Dodgers’ special assistant to the general manager. Corrales played in nine big league seasons and managed for 10. He won a World Series as a coach for the Braves in 1995.

The Braves activated Ozzie Albies from the injured list and called right-hander Darius Vines from Triple-A Gwinett. The team optioned Jared Shuster and Vaughan Grissom to Triple-A.

The Red Sox have called up top outfield prospect Ceddanne Rafaela from Triple-A Worcester. A consensus top-100 prospect, Rafaela is hitting .302/.349/.520 with 20 home runs, 31 doubles, and 36 steals in 108 minor league games. Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports that missed a few calls from manager Chad Tracy about the news because he was playing PlayStation.

The Dodgers announced that right-hander Tony Gonsolin will undergo Tommy John surgery on Friday. In addition, they activated right-hander Tyson Miller, whom they claimed off waivers from the Mets, and sent Gavin Stone to the minors.

Adam Duvall and Mookie Betts were named Players of the Week. Duvall cracked five home runs and drove in 12 runs, while Betts batted .615 over the week.

The Blue Jays placed third baseman Matt Chapman on the injured list with a right finger sprain. They recalled Ernie Clement from Triple-A.

Beltrán is just two homers shy of tying Todd Hundley‘s franchise record. Jose Reyes adds a two-run homer, and David Wright goes 3-for-4 while driving in three.

2011: The Mets sweep the Marlins in a doubleheader, getting strong pitching performances from R.A. Dickey and Dillon Gee. Dickey pitches seven shutout innings in a 2-1 victory in the first game, and Gee allows just one run in six innings in a 5-1 win in the nightcap. Jose Reyes makes his return to the lineup after missing three weeks with a hamstring strain, as he continues to vie for the first batting title in team history.

2016: After Rafael Montero and José Fernández begin the night in a scoreless duel, Xavier Scruggs puts the Marlins ahead 1-0 in the eighth inning with an RBI double, but the Mets tie it on a wild pitch by A.J. Ramos. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Yoenis Céspedes smacks a walk-off home run to give the Mets a 2-1 victory. The Mets have now won seven of their last nine games.
