Good morning Mets fans! The New York Mets (39-48) enjoyed the Fourth of July with a day off after splitting a two-game series with the New York Yankees (56-29) at Citi Field. They now open a three-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies (45-42) before heading into the All-Star break.

Jacob deGrom (4-7, 3.32 ERA) takes the mound once more at Citi Field before traveling to Cleveland with Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso for the Midsummer Classic. He will be opposed by Vince Velasquez (2-5, 4.73 ERA) who is vying to lock down the fifth spot in the Phillies rotation. The game can be followed on SNY, WCBS 880 and ESPN Deportes 1050, with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT.

The St. Lucie Mets’ Fourth of July fireworks display did not go as planned as noted by Metsmerized‘s own Michael Mayer. The fireworks started a fire outside First Data Field, but no injuries were reported.

Jacob Resnick of Mets Minors listed 34 international free agents that the Mets have officially signed since the international signing period started on Tuesday.

The Mets are planning to wait longer before declaring themselves as trade deadline buyers or sellers, per Buster Olney of ESPN.
