Good morning, Mets fans!

The news that baseball fans worldwide have been waiting for officially came on Saturday as Shohei Ohtani selected his next destination. He announced on his Instagram that he has decided to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jeff Passan of ESPN confirmed Ohtani’s new deal with the Dodgers is for 10 years and $700 million.

Robert Murray of Fansided reported on Twitter that according to a source, Ohtani’s deal includes “unprecedented deferrals” which was Ohtani’s idea in giving the Dodgers the flexibility to be as competitive as possible. Regardless of that, the contract becomes the largest deal in sports history.

MLB’s Alden Gonzalez also noted that there are no opt-outs in his contract.
