Per Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic, the Chicago White Sox acquired starting pitcher Ivan Nova from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Right-handed pitching prospect Yordi Rosario and international slot money are going to Pittsburgh in the deal.

The Toronto Blue Jays announced the release of shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. The five-time all-star has not played since July 2017, and he is due $38 million from the Blue Jays over the next two years.

Jerry Crasnick reports free agent catcher Chris Herrmann has come to terms on a deal with the Oakland Athletics. Herrmann appeared in 36 games with Seattle last season, slashing .237/.322/.427 in 87 plate appearances.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic tweets that the Colorado Rockies are looking to fill first base through a trade. Bowden names Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Abreu, and Wil Myers as possible fits.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Yankees plan to retain Gary Sanchez as their primary catcher. Sanchez struggled to a .186/.291/.406 line in 89 games this year.

Heyman reports that utility player Danny Santana agreed to a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers.

Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Texas Rangers acquired third baseman Patrick Wisdom from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for utility player Drew Robinson.

Feinsand also notes that Texas has added recently-retired pitcher Brandon McCarthy to the front office as a special assistant to general manager Jon Daniels.

Sherman reports that the Baltimore Orioles selected Brandon Hyde as their new manager. Hyde previously served as the Chicago Cubs bench coach.

Nick Groke of The Athletic reports the Diamondbacks hired Dave Magadan as their hitting coach.
