Happy Thursday, Mets fans!
The Mets reached a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday to bring minor league outfielder Carlos Rincon and cash considerations to the Mets organization in exchange for recently DFA’d Billy McKinney, according to Tim Healey of Newsday. The trade marks the first of what may be many for New York as the trade deadline inches closer.
The Mets also made a plethora of roster moves on Wednesday, which were highlighted by the placement of RHP Robert Stock to the injured list after he injured himself while running to first base in Tuesday’s game. New York also optioned Geoff Hartlieb, according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com, and recalled INF Travis Blankenhorn and RHP Nick Tropeano to fill the empty spaces on the roster.
The Mets are off today after Wednesday’s 7-0 win in Cincinnati over the Reds. They’ll return to Queens on Friday as they take on the Blue Jays go up against a familiar face in Steven Matz.
