Rimas Sports, the agency founded by rapper Bad Bunny, was denied its request to continue representing clients by an arbitrator on Friday and now faces a five-year suspension and a $400,000 fine. Its main agent, William Arroyo, had his license revoked for improper benefits provided to players. Francisco Alvarez and Ronny Mauricio are among Rimas Sports’ clients. The agency plans to file an appeal by May 10.

José Quintana got tagged for five runs in five-plus innings, and a ninth-inning rally by the Mets fell short as they dropped their series opener against the Giants, 5-2. Pete Alonso hit his 199th career home run, and Sean Reid-Foley and Josh Walker both tossed scoreless innings in their 2024 debut.

Luis Severino (2-1, 2.14 ERA) will look to keep his hot stretch going as he faces off against Giants ace Logan Webb (2-1, 2.93 ERA) in the second of the series. Severino allowed just an unearned run in six innings against the Pirates in his last outing. First pitch is scheduled for 9:45 p.m.

Prior to Monday’s game, the Mets optioned Grant Hartwig to Triple-A Syracuse and designated Michael Tonkin for assignment for the second time this season. Reid-Foley was activated from the injured list and Walker was recalled from Triple-A.

J.D. Martinez is scheduled to join the Syracuse Mets’ lineup today, playing the next two games with them. If all goes well, Martinez could join the Mets on their upcoming homestand.

Brewers right-hander Jakob Junis was sent to the hospital on Monday after he was struck in the neck by a ball during batting practice in Pittsburgh. The Brewers said that Junis was conscious, alert, and responsive, and was receiving further evaluation.

In other Brewers news, they placed lefty Wade Miley on the injured list retroactive to April 19 with left elbow inflammation and recalled righty Tobias Myers from Triple-A Nashville. In addition, they reinstated Jake Bauers from the bereavement list and optioned infielder Andrew Monasterio to Triple-A.

The Phillies placed Bryce Harper on the paternity list before their series opener against the Reds on Monday. Kody Clemens was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take Harper’s roster spot.
