On Saturday, the ALDS and NLDS began. In the American League, the Texas Rangers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 in Game 1. Additionally, the Houston Astros defeated the Minnesota Twins 6-4 in Game 1.

In the National League, the Philadelphia Phillies blanked the Atlanta Braves 3-0 in Game 1. Late Saturday, the Arizona Diamondbacks took Game 1 from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, Max Scherzer is not on the Texas Rangers’ divisional series roster, but should they advance to the ALCS, he is likely to be ready for that series.

Per Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Kyle Wright will need a shoulder procedure and will miss all of the 2024 season as a result.

According to Danielle Allentuck of the Baltimore Banner, John Means will not pitch in the ALDS due to elbow sorness following a simulation game. The Orioles expect Means to be ready for next week.
