Good morning, Mets fans!

The Padres signed former Braves right-hander Julio Teheran to a minor league contract for the 2023 season. He can make up to $6 million if he makes the major league roster.

Once a stalwart in the Braves rotation, Teheran spent the first nine seasons of his MLB career in Atlanta, making two All-Star Games. Teheran endured a rocky 2020 season with the Angels and made just one start for the Tigers in 2021 before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. The 31-year-old pitched in the Mexican League and for the Staten Island FerryHawks of the Atlantic League in 2022. Teheran has pitched well against the Mets in his career, racking up 10 wins and a 2.98 ERA in 169 1/3 innings against them.
