Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets are set to begin a three-game series with the Padres tonight. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since the Padres ended the Mets’ season in the Wild Card Series last October. Max Scherzer (1-1 6.35 ERA) will look to get his season on track against Yu Darvish (0-0 1.80 ERA). Darvish pitched seven innings of one-run ball in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series to earn the win, and he has never lost to the Mets in eight regular-season starts against them, going 5-0 with a 2.56 ERA. Including the postseason, the Padres won six of their nine matchups with the Mets in 2022. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

Carlos Carrasco struggled again, giving up six runs, six hits, and three walks in 4 2/3 innings and the Mets left 10 men on base as they dropped their series finale with the Marlins, 7-2. Carrasco was undone by the long ball, surrendering a three-run homer to Bryan De La Cruz in the first inning and a two-run homer to Garrett Cooper in the fifth. Starling Marte left the game early after he slid into the knee of Jean Segura while stealing a base. Marte was diagnosed with a strain in his neck and is listed as day-to-day.
