Good morning Mets fans! The Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees all had the chance to advance to their respective leagues’ championship series on Monday. However, out of those four teams, only the Yankees advanced.

Andy Martino of SNY reported that there is mutual interest between Carlos Beltran and the Mets regarding their vacant managerial position.

Mike Puma of the New York Post wrote a piece on Luis Rojas in regards to the Mets’ managerial search. Puma wrote that Rojas may be “the most well-versed on the modern demands of the job” among their internal options.

The Yankees completed their ALDS sweep of the Minnesota Twins with a 5-1 victory. With the loss, the Twins extended their MLB-record playoff losing streak to 16 games; 13 of which have come at the hands of the Yankees.

The Astros will again look to advance to the ALCS as they take on the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday afternoon in Game 4 of the ALDS. Houston will send Justin Verlander (21-6, 2.58 ERA) to the mound and Tampa Bay will counter with Diego Castillo (5-8, 3.41 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. EDT, with game coverage on FS1.

Yokohama DeNA BayStars outfielder Yoshitomo Tsutsugo will be posted, as reported by Jason Coskrey of the Japan Times. The 27-year-old will be formally posted sometime between Nov. 1 to Dec. 5, and once posted he will have 30 days to negotiate a contract with any of the 30 MLB teams.

Although Raul Ibanez‘s name has popped up as a potential managerial candidate, the former big leaguer has declined to pursue any of the current managerial openings according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

The Atlanta Braves fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4 in Game 4 of the NLDS. Yadier Molina tied things up at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth with a RBI single and later won the game in the bottom of the 10th with a walk-off sac fly.

The Braves play their Game 5 against the Cardinals on Wednesday starting at 5:02 p.m. EDT. Mike Foltynewicz (8-6, 4.54 ERA) will face Jack Flaherty (11-8, 2.75 ERA). TBS will broadcast the game.

The Washington Nationals defeated the Dodgers 6-1 in Game 4 of the NLDS. Ryan Zimmerman went 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs, while Max Scherzer went seven innings of one-run ball.

The Nats play their Game 5 against the Dodgers on Wednesday starting at 8:37 p.m. EDT. Stephen Strasburg (18-6, 3.32 ERA) will face Walker Buehler (14-4, 3.26 ERA). TBS will broadcast the game.

Miami Marlins bullpen coach Dean Treanor and catching coach Brian Schneider will not be returning in 2020 according to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com. Every coach on manager Don Mattingly‘s 2019 staff was under a one-year deal, so the club is still making decisions on others. However, several of the 2019 staff are expected to be back.

This Day in Mets History

1973: The Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds 9-2 in Game 3 of the NLCS. During the game, Bud Harrelson and Pete Rose fought after Harrelson was upset with Rose’s hard slide at second base that broke up a double play. After the fight, the Mets sent Willie Mays, Yogi Berra, Cleon Jones, Tom Seaver and Rusty Staub out to left field to try and quell their fans’ resulting rowdiness to avoid forcibly having to forfeit the game.

1986: The Mets fell to the Astros 1-0 in Game 1 of the NLCS. The Mets were stymied by Mike Scott who tossed a shutout and struck out a playoff-tying record 14 batters.

2000: The Mets advanced to the NLCS after blanking the San Francisco Giants 4-0 in Game 4 of the NLDS. Bobby Jones led the Mets to their shutout victory with a complete-game one-hitter.
