Garrett Broshuis reported that the Supreme Court has denied MLB’s request to take the case surrounding Minor Leaguers being paid at least minimum wage, with the issue being whether the case remains a class action. 

Meghan Montemurro, Phillies beat writer for The Athletic reported that Rhys Hoskins had surgery to repair his UCL in his left elbow. He is expected to be out four to six months.

The Yankees announced that Deivi Garcia will start ALDS Game 2 against the Rays, with Masahiro Tanaka starting Game 3.

The Padres and Dodgers will open their division series tonight at 9:38 PM.

Shane McClanahan made his MLB Debut las night for the Tampa Bay Rays. Kyle Glaser with Baseball America reports that he the first pitcher in MLB history to make his debut in a postseason game. Congratulations to Shane McClanahan!

1980: Mets’ manager, Joe Torre’s contract was extended through the 1982 season.

1991: David Cone tied the National League record for strikeouts with 19 strikeouts in the Mets’ 7-0 victory over the Phillies. Cone would go on to finish the season with a league-leading 241 strikeouts.

1991: Howard Johnson drove in his 117th RBI for the season, becoming the first switch hitter to lead the National League in runs batted in and the first Mets player to ever do so as well.
