Jeff Wilpon spoke out about the potential sale of the Mets telling Bleacher Report‘s Yaron Weltzman that there are four or five suiters that have interest in the team, and that “the team will have some kind of transaction.”

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported the MLB’s latest proposal to the MLBPA. The latest proposal is for a 72-game season which would start July 14. Players would be guaranteed 80 percent of their prorated salaries if there is a postseason, and 70 percent of their prorated salaries if there is no postseason. Players will also have an opt-out.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network noted to the proposal that the MLB removed the tiered pay system that they originally proposed, and decided to raise the percentage of pay the players receive. Heyman added his own suggestion for a proposal on his Twitter.

The latest MLB proposal came with a strongly worded letter to the Players League. The letter included a discussion about the union’s approach to the proposal. In the five-page letter, the league included a section titled “Resolution of Dispute” including the details of the last three months of MLB’s frustration with the union. The letter was obtained by the Athletic‘s Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich and is–very–detailed.

Gary Sheffield wrote an article speaking out about the tragic death of George Floyd, who was innocently killed just because of the color of his skin. Sheffield talks about those who have been racially profiled in the sport of baseball and how this is just as much a social issue as it is a baseball issue in his article for the Athletic.

The Florida Governor says that he is implementing a state bill for college to pay student-athletes for their name, image and likeness which will go into effect in July of 2021. He said, “I think it really is Florida leading the way on this,” according to David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

The Negro League’s museum will be reopening on Tuesday as reported by Bill Ladson of MLB.

A 2020 baseball season has still not been agreed upon, but all 30 MLB teams were told to find a site for taxi squad workouts that are within 100 miles of their home stadiums in order to prepare for baseball’s possible return. JJ Cooper of Baseball America wrote an article on the league’s announcement.
