Good morning, Mets fans!
In Tuesday’s game, New York edged out a 3-2 win over the Angels, thanks in large part to Francisco Alvarez’s towering two-run homer. Frankie Montas turned in a solid outing, allowing just two runs over 5 2/3 innings. The bullpen took it from there, as Rico Garcia, Reed Garrett and Ryne Stanek teamed up for 3 1/3 scoreless frames to seal the victory.
Still, there were some warning signs — the Mets managed just five hits on the night. They compensated with five free passes, including three from Juan Soto.
Today, the Mets wrap up their three-game series with the Angels, sending left-hander Sean Manaea (0-1, 2.45 ERA) to the mound. The Angels have yet to announce a starter. The last time this turn in the rotation came up, they used Ryan Zeferjahn as an opener and went on to win 6-5, utilizing seven pitchers in total.

Notably, this will likely cut into Mark Vientos’ playing time, as he and Marte are expected to split time at DH.
