Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets won their 2o22 home opener Friday 10-3 over the Arizona Diamondbacks in what was an amazing day for the Mets. The Tom Seaver statue was unveiled before the game, and it was Jackie Robinson Day. These two amazing events led to a spectacular day at Citi Field.

Francisco Lindor slugged two home runs and drove in three, and Starling Marte clubbed his first home run as a Met which was good for three RBI’s of his own in the box score. The Mets also got 10 hits and walked four times in their victory.

Pitching was also impressive, as Chris Bassitt tossed six innings allowing one run on two hits, while striking out six Dbacks. Chasen Shreve struck out the side in his inning of work, and Drew Smith also tossed a scoreless inning. Sean Reid-Foley closed down the game, but allowed two runs in the ninth.

On Saturday, The Mets will take on the Dbacks for game two of the three-game series at 1:10 PM EST. Zac Gallen will make his first start of the year for the Diamondbacks, as Carlos Carrasco gets the ball for the Mets.
