Morning Briefing: Mets Sweep Doubleheader From Cubs

Good morning, Mets fans!

What a day New York had on Saturday. The Mets swept the Chicago Cubs in the teams’ split doubleheader. Each game went to extra innings and in each game the Mets showed a bit of the magic that has followed the team time and time again this season.

New York will turn to David Peterson for the four-game series sweep heading in the All-Star break today.

According to Tim Healey of Newsday Sports, Buck Showalter said that Dominic Smith rolled his right ankle, has swelling, and will get an MRI. He exited the first game on Saturday after rolling his ankle while taking a lead off second base.

Jeff McNeil has been named an All-Star. He will start at second base for the NL All-Star team.
