Good morning, Mets fans!

The Metropolitans continued their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon, securing a series sweep over the Los Angeles Angels. Sean Manaea went five innings of one-run ball in his third outing of the season, as the Amazins’ offense backed him up with power. Brandon Nimmo started the party with a solo shot in the first and Pete Alonso crushed a mammoth three-run homer in the third inning. 

The Phillies would then drop their series finale to the Boston Red Sox in 11 innings on Wednesday evening, giving the Mets control of first place in the NL East by 0.5 games. 

New York now has a travel day, flying to the west coast for a six-game swing against the San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres.

The Padres are listening on Dylan Cease, with the Yankees, Mets, Cubs and Red Sox among teams believed to have checked in, per Jon Heyman of the NY Post.

The Chicago Cubs signed reliever Zach Pop on a minor league contract, per Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register.

The Tampa Bay Rays optioned starting pitcher Taj Bradley to Triple-A Durham, per Marc Topkin of the TB Times.
