Good morning, Mets fans!

After going 4-4 in their eight games in Atlanta and Philadelphia, the Mets begin the Bronx portion of the Subway Series with the Yankees tonight. In the first series with their crosstown rivals last month, the Mets earned a sweep, with Starling Marte hitting a walk-off single to secure it. Max Scherzer (9-2, 2.15 ERA) will square off against Domingo Germán (1-2, 4.45), just like they did a few weeks ago. Scherzer carved up the Yankees on his 38th birthday, going seven shutout innings and striking out Aaron Judge three times. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

The Mets added yet another chapter to their dominance of the Phillies yesterday afternoon, coming back three different times to earn a wild, 10-9 victory. In his MLB debut, José Buttó pitched four innings and allowed nine hits and seven runs, six of which came on two three-run homers by Alec Bohm. The Mets battled back from a 4-0 deficit thanks to RBI knocks by Michael Perez, Dan Vogelbach, and Starling Marte. After a rain delay, Mark Canha hit a game-tying three-run homer in the seventh, but the Phillies took the lead back on a solo homer by Jean Segura in the eighth. In the top of the ninth, Canha smacked his second homer of the game, a go-ahead two-run homer off David Robertson. Brandon Nimmo added a homer of his own, and Edwin Díaz escaped a jam in the ninth for his 28th save of the year. The win was the Mets’ 14th against the Phillies this year, tying a franchise record for the most wins against Philadelphia in a season.

The Mets placed Stephen Nogosek on the injured list with an oblique strain and called up 26-year-old lefty Nate Fisher, who was working as a banker in Omaha just 14 months ago. Fisher debuted in the game yesterday, tossing three scoreless innings and picking Bryson Stott off first base.

Patrick Mazeika was claimed off waivers by the Giants. The Mets had designated him for assignment last week. In addition, the Mets sent lefty Rob Zastryzny back to Triple-A and designated Sam Clay for assignment.
