Good morning Mets fans!

The New York Mets (13-5) lost to the Atlanta Braves (11-7) by a score of 12-4 at SunTrust Park on Thursday. Matt Harvey got the start for the Mets and faltered early, giving up six runs in the first three innings before settling down for the next three. Jerry Blevins and Gerson Bautista combined to give up an additional six runs.

The Mets offense didn’t do much to help. Aside from a Todd Frazier solo shot in the fifth, all their action happened in the eighth as they scored three runs.

The Mets take on the Braves in the second game of this series today as they send Noah Syndergaard (2-0, 2.95 ERA) to the mound to face off against Sean Newcomb (1-1, 4.02 ERA). The Mets will try to avoid dropping their second consecutive series after taking the first five. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m and the game can be seen on SNY.

Mickey Callaway wouldn’t commit to giving Harvey another start according to Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

In response to Callaway’s noncommittal, Harvey continuously told reporters after the game, “I’m a starting pitcher.”

The Cincinnati Reds announced major shakeups to their coaching staff early Thursday morning. Manager Bryan Price and pitching coach Mack Jenkins will be replaced. Bench coach Jim Riggleman has been promoted to interim manager, Triple-A Louisville manager Pat Kelly has been promoted to bench coach and Double-A Pensacola pitching coach Danny Darwin has been promoted to major league staff.

MLB promoted three executives to the senior vice president level according to Eric Fisher of the SportsBusiness Journal. The three executives and their new titles are Barbara McHugh as SVP/marketing, Jaime Leech as SVP/Games and VR and Patrick Houlihan as SVP and Deputy General Counsel for labor relations.

The Texas Rangers announced that they signed international free agent Julio Pablo Martinez. The Cuban outfielder is 22 years old.

Madison Bumgarner has had the three pins removed that were in his hand according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports. He can start playing catch in two weeks and remains on schedule to be activated by the time he’s eligible to come off the disabled list on May 26.
