Good Morning, Mets fans!

The Mets earned their first spring training win on Sunday, as they beat the Washington Nationals by a score of 2-1.

Prospect David Peterson started the game off for the Mets, throwing two shutout innings, striking out two. Paul Sewald threw one scoreless inning and Erasmo Ramirez threw two. Jordan Humphreys took the sixth and gave up the lone run of the game for Washington and Francisco Rios, Rob Whalen, and Joseph Shaweach put up a scoreless innings for the Mets to secure the win.

Catcher Wilson Ramos hit a mighty blast in the second inning, giving the Mets an early 1-0 lead. In the fourth, Eduardo Nunez hit a single to right, and drove Edgardo Fermin in to score the second and final run of the game.

Today, the Mets play another spring training game, taking on the Detroit Tigers at 1:05 p.m. EST. Michael Wacha will be on the mound for the Mets while the Tigers will have Spencer Turnbull starting the game for Detroit. The game will be played at Publix Field at Joker Merchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida and will not be televised but can be heard on 97.1 The Ticket Detroit Sports Radio WXYT-FM.
