Good morning Mets fans!
The New York Mets (27-32) fell to the New York Yankees (41-18) by the final score of 4-1 last night. Starting pitcher Jacob deGrom turned in another stellar performance, allowing three runs (two earned) over eight innings, but he was tagged for his first loss of the season.
The Mets have yet to seal a win this month, and the offense continues to struggle. After a leadoff home run by Brandon Nimmo, the Mets failed to score again the rest of the night.

The Mets will continue their three-game Subway Series with the New York Yankees tonight at Citi Field. Steven Matz (2-4, 3.42 ERA) will take the mound and attempt to build on his most recent successful start against the Chicago Cubs. He will be opposed by Domingo German (0-4, 5.44 ERA). The game can be viewed on FOX, and 710 WOR will carry the Mets radio broadcast.
David Wright took grounders at Citi Field prior to Friday night’s matchup against the Yankees.
Jeurys Familia was placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 7, with a sore right Shoulder. Jacob Rhame was recalled from Las Vegas to take his roster spot.
Yoenis Céspedes started his rehab assignment with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies last night. Céspedes went 0-for-2 as Binghamton’s DH with a fly out and a ground out.

The Los Angeles Angels announced that Shohei Ohtani has a UCL sprain and has received a platelet-rich plasma and stem cell injection. The Angels will re-evaluate Ohtani in three weeks. Ohtani, who signed with the Angels as an international free agent in the offseason, has slashed .289/.372/.535 while pitching to a 3.10 ERA in nine starts this season.
Jose Torres was suspended for the remainder of the season for violating the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. The Padres pitcher began serving his 100-game ban on June 5.
Joe Kelly insists that he would have been drafted by the Angels had the draft not taken place on his 21st birthday, writes Rob Bradford of WEEI. Kelly, a native of Anaheim, California, received a phone call from the Angels on draft day, but was too drunk to negotiate a signing bonus.
Masahiro Tanaka left the game last night with stiffness in both hamstrings, prompting Marc Carig of the Athletic to campaign for the DH in the National League.

1989: Darryl Strawberry launched his 200th career home run. Strawberry has 252 home runs as a Met, the most in team history.
1999: Bobby Valentine was ejected in the 12th inning after arguing a catcher’s interference call, and he famously returned to the dugout disguised with a fake mustache and glasses.
Birthdays: Jason Anderson is 39 today. Tom Edens turns 57.
