Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets came into yesterday’s doubleheader tied with the Braves in the NL East standings, and they looked hungry to edge back in front. In the first game, Chris Bassitt pitched seven innings and allowed only one earned run while Tyler Naquin had 3 RBIs to lead the Mets to a 5-1 victory.

In the second game, Jacob deGrom finally got a ton of run support with the Mets scoring five runs by the end of the fourth inning. Also, Eduardo Escobar had four hits in the night game, the third time he has recorded four hits for the Mets this season. But the player of the game according to Matt Lazzaro was Francisco Lindor: 3-4, 2 2B, BB, 3 RBI.

Nate Mendelson has a complete recap of the yesterday’s day game and Matt Lazzaro has a complete recap of Wednesday’s night game.

The Braves won as well, but with the doubleheader sweep, the Mets once again lead the NL East by a half-game.

Now, it is time for the morning briefing.
