On Friday, Buck Showalter indicated that Ronny Mauricio could start to see more playing time at different defensive positions including first base, third base, and the outfield. This came on the same night that Mauricio started at second base for Triple-A Syracuse, the first game in his minor league career that he started at a position other than shortstop. If Mauricio performs well defensively at other positions, it might allow him a quicker path to the major league team as he has been tearing it up offensively to start the season.

1970: Tom Seaver threw a complete game against the Padres in which he struck out 19 batters including ten straight to end the game. Seaver’s ten straight strikeouts were an MLB record that remained untouched for 51 years until both Aaron Nola and Corbin Burnes matched the feat in 2021.
