Good morning, Mets fans!
The Mets routed the Tigers 12-5 on Tuesday. Juan Soto, Luis Torrens and Pete Alonso (twice) all went deep, and four Mets turned in multi-hit efforts. On the mound, Nolan McLean bounced back from a shaky first inning — when two walks and two singles plated Detroit’s only runs — to deliver six strong frames. He finished with three hits allowed, two runs, three walks and seven strikeouts.
Today, the Mets will try to complete a sweep of the American League’s top club. Clay Holmes (11-6, 3.60 ERA) gets the ball for New York, while Detroit counters with right-hander Casey Mize (12-5, 3.95 ERA). First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. ET on SNY.

NL Standings Update

In the NL Wild Card race, the Reds fell 12-9 to the Blue Jays in a slugfest, dropping them to five games behind the Mets. The Giants won their ninth in their last 10, 7-4 over the Rockies, and now own the same record as Cincinnati.
