Good morning Mets fans! On Wednesday, the Mets comeback fell short as they fell to the Cubs by a score of 10-7.
The team dropped the series to the Chicago and now trail them by four-games in the Wild Card standings. They are now a half game behind the Brewers, and three back of the Phillies, as well.
It was a night to forget for Noah Syndergaard, who allowed 10 runs (nine earned) and three homers (both career worsts). After going down 10-1 early on, the offense battled back but ultimately came up short in the end.
Next up, Jacob deGrom (8-7, 2.56 ERA) will take the mound to try and avoid back-to-back sweeps against Cubs lefty veteran Jon Lester (10-9, 4.49 ERA). First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on SNY.
