Good morning, Mets fans!
The Mets beat the Marlins 9-4 Tuesday night, boosting their record back above .500. (They left 69-69 behind and now have 70 wins.) Read the recap of the game here.

On This Date in Mets History
Former Met reliever Bobby Parnell celebrates his 37th birthday today. Parnell had his two best seasons in 2013 and 2014, when he compiled a 2.35 ERA and 158 ERA+ in 118.2 innings. He needed Tommy John surgery the following spring, though, and wasn’t able to return to form with the Mets or the Tigers.
On this day in 1996, Todd Hundley hit his 40th home run of the season. That home run made him just the second switch hitter ever to hit 40 dingers in a season, and it also set a Mets single-season record for home runs in a season. Carlos Beltran later tied the record, and Pete Alonso absolutely obliterated it with 53.
Hundley set a record later that season for homers in a season by a catcher when he hit his 41st of the year. Javy Lopez broke the record seven years later with 42 home runs.
