Zack Wheeler (5-3, 4.61 ERA) provided the Mets with his eighth quality start of the season, as he pitched seven innings and limited the Giants to one walk, three hits and three runs.

Jacob deGrom (3-5, 3.49 ERA) will toe the rubber on Friday evening against Antonio Senzatela (4-4, 5.33 ERA) and the Colorado Rockies at Citi Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT, with coverage on SNY, WCBS 880 and ESPN 1050.

Jim Callis of MLB.com ranked the Mets’ 2019 MLB Draft haul as the sixth best in MLB.

Tom Brady clarified to reporters that he applied for the “Tom Terrific” trademark because somebody was trying to use it associated with him, and he did not like it. He the told reporters, “I was trying to keep people from using it. Lesson learned.”

The Mets purchased the contract of outfielder Taylor Lane from the Evansville Otters of independent league baseball, per Jacob Resnick of Mets Minors. He was assigned to the Class A Columbia Fireflies.

The Atlanta Braves signed Dallas Keuchel to a one-year deal as reported by David O’Brien of The Athletic. Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reported that the deal is for $13 million, his physical will occur on Friday in Atlanta and his first start is scheduled for Saturday in Triple-A Gwinnett.

The Philadelphia Phillies removed all banners depicting Odubel Herrera from Citizens Bank Park as Herrera is being investigated for his domestic violence charge, per Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The Phillies (35-27) hold a 2.0 game lead over the Braves (33-29) for first place in the National League East. Those two teams are followed by the Mets (30-32; 5.0 games back), Washington Nationals (28-34; 7.0 games back) and Miami Marlins (23-37; 11.0 games back), respectively.

The Braves fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-1, the Marlins lost to the Milwaukee Brewers 5-1 and the Nationals were defeated by the San Diego Padres 5-4. The Phillies had the day off.
