Good morning, Mets fans! My name is Alexis Farinacci and I will be joining the team to do the Tuesday morning briefings moving forward. I want to thank Michael Mayer and the Metsmerized team for the opportunity.
Welcome to September and the end of the 2020 MLB trade deadline! Oddly enough, though it feels like it just started, we have also now entered the last month of the regular season, with just 27 days left in the regular season. The Mets currently sit in fourth place, and are five games back of Atlanta in the National League East Division Standings. They acquired a pitcher, catcher, and third baseman at the trade deadline (see below for more information).
The Mets lost 5-3 to the Marlins yesterday, with Jacob DeGrom taking the loss. The Mets have now lost four straight.
The Mets will now open a two-game series against the Baltimore Orioles in Baltimore tonight at 7:35 pm EDT. Following tomorrow’s game, they will head back to Citi Field for one game with the New York Yankees on Thursday (makeup of 8/23 PPD) at 4:10 pm EDT before opening a 4-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.
