Happy Fourth of July Mets fans! On Wednesday, the Mets suffered a 5-1 loss to the Yankees to conclude the subway series. With last night’s loss, the team split the two-game set and overall season series 2-2.
The offense was only able to scratch across one run on seven hits, as they were unable to deliver with men on base despite being given several chances. The club is now back down to nine games under .500 with a record of 39-48.
They have also not won more than two games in a row in the past six weeks. The Mets will get another day off on Thursday before hosting the Phillies at home for a three game weekend series.
On Friday, All-Star ace Jacob deGrom (4–7, 3.32 ERA, 128 SO) will face off against Vince Velasquez (2–5, 4.73 ERA, 60 SO) in the first matchup of a three game series versus the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field.
First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. and the game can be seen on SNY.
