Good Morning, Mets fans! Tonight the New York Mets will look to take the series against the Colorado Rockies. Seth Lugo has the ball for New York and will be opposed by Tyler Chatwood. The game begins at 7:10 on Pix 11.

Last night the Mets had their ace, Jacob deGrom, going and they scored 14 runs.  deGrom gave up a run in the first and then the Mets responded with nine unanswered. Six of those runs came in the third inning. Michael Conforto, reached base four times and hit a three-run home run. TJ Rivera went 2-for-5 with a home run.

T.J. Rivera went 2-5 with one double, one home run, three RBI and two runs scored to extend his career-best hitting streak to nine games. His three RBI last night matches his career-high (third time).  Over his last 22 games dating to June 10, Rivera is hitting .372 (29-78) with five doubles, four home runs, 10 runs scored and 13 RBI.

Yoenis Cespedes finished the day 4-6 with one double, one RBI and two runs scored. Was his third four-hit game of the season and first since June 17 vs. Washington.

Sandy Alderson spoke to reporters on Friday afternoon discussing a host of things.  Nothing that will happen in the next 7-10 days will change their minds about their mindset heading into the deadline.

Josh Smoker will be back in a few days. Noah Syndergaard and Matt Harvey will throw soon. Neil Walker should be back in a week or so.

They are also waiting for the right time to call up Amed Rosario.

The team is unlikely to trade Jacob deGrom.

Gio Gonzalez was lights out for the Nationals last night, tossing 8 1/3 shutout innings against the Reds and limiting them to four hits. The Reds hit just four balls to the outfield and at one point Gonzalez retired 11 straight batters. His ERA stands at 2.66.
