Good Morning Mets Fans. The New York Mets (3-3) head out to Philadelphia (3-3) to begin their first road trip of the 2017 season today. Jacob deGrom will take the mound in the opening game against the Phillies and will be opposed by Jerad Eickhoff.

Yesterday, Noah Syndergaard provided exactly what the Mets needed in the team’s 5-2 win over Miami. Thor went out and pitched seven innings while allowing just two runs, only one of which was earned. He allowed five hits on the day while striking out nine and picked up his first win of the season. Syndergaard had tossed 20 consecutive scoreless innings dating to his last regular season start in 2016 before the Marlins scored twice in the third. Read more from Peter Botte in the NYDN.
Both Jay Bruce and Michael Conforto homered in Sunday night’s win in Queens. Conforto, in his first start of the season knocked in two runs while spotting Curtis Granderson in center field. Bruce on the other hand has had a nice start to his season, hitting two homers and a double while knocking in three runs. The battle for right field is off to a good start as Ken Davidoff writes in the NY Post.

On this day in 1969, Tommie Agee crushes two home runs, one of which landed in the left field upper deck of Shea Stadium. It would be the only fair ball in the stadium’s history to reach the upper deck and the spot would be commemerated with Agee’s number 20.
